WBO Participates in BIO-RETHA 2026 International Conference in Nepal

March 25, 2026

The World Bamboo Organization (WBO) is pleased to announce its participation in the BIO-RETHA Conference 2026 – Red Panda, Thar & Himalayan Biodiversity International Conference, taking place from April 17–19, 2026, in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, Khotang, Nepal .

Under the theme “Regenerating Life Systems: Biodiversity, Ecology, and Community Futures,” the conference will bring together over 500 participants, including researchers, conservationists, policymakers, and community leaders from around the world . The event focuses on protecting fragile Himalayan ecosystems while advancing sustainable livelihoods and nature-based solutions.

A Global Platform for Biodiversity and Community Action

The BIO-RETHA Conference builds on the momentum of previous bamboo-focused initiatives and expands into a broader dialogue on biodiversity conservation. Key thematic areas include:

  • Flagship species conservation (Red Panda, Thar, Pangolin)

  • Bamboo for climate resilience and livelihoods

  • Indigenous knowledge and cultural ecologies

  • Ecotourism and green enterprise development

  • Climate adaptation and renewable energy

  • Social inclusion, youth innovation, and community resilience

This integrative approach reflects the urgent need to connect science, culture, and community-driven solutions in addressing global environmental challenges.

Strengthening Global Collaboration

WBO’s participation in BIO-RETHA 2026 reinforces its commitment to:

  • Promoting bamboo as a nature-based solution

  • Supporting community-driven conservation models

  • Bridging science, policy, and practice at a global level

The conference also offers a unique platform to connect bamboo innovation with broader biodiversity agendas, particularly in one of the world’s most ecologically significant regions.
