North Sumatra, Indonesia – July 7–12, 2025 – The World Bamboo Organization is proud to support the Bamboo Unboxed Workshop, Sumatra 2025, a hands-on, immersive bamboo architecture experience hosted at the breathtaking Orangutan Haven, nestled in the tropical forests of North Sumatra.

Organized by Giant Grass and Orangutan Haven, this international workshop draws inspiration from the acclaimed book Bamboo Architecture Unboxed. It brings together builders, designers, architects, students, and sustainability advocates for a one-week journey into the transformative world of bamboo design and construction.

Workshop Highlights:

Participants will gain practical skills and deep insights in:

• Hands-On Bamboo Construction – Build a large-scale bamboo structure from concept to completion.

• Designing with Bamboo – Learn core design themes and sustainable practices inspired by Bamboo Architecture Unboxed.

• Material Mastery – Discover bamboo species, properties, and construction potential.

• Joinery & Geometry – Explore structural techniques that enhance both strength and aesthetics.
