For more than 12 years Jean-Baptiste Dubois has developed a unique and widely recognised artisanal expertise through his work with French bamboo strips. With in- depth knowledge of this rapidly growing field, he has become a prominent figure in the world of bamboo in Europe.

At the beginning his passion for Southeast Asia led him, in 2003, to spend two years living among the Karen people in Thailand, where he helped build an agricultural training centre. During this experience, he had the opportunity to learn and explore traditional bamboo craftsmanship.

In 2015 Jean-Baptiste Dubois founded Atelier Déambulons and specialised in artistic craftsmanship using bamboo strips, creating bespoke work for specifiers including architects, landscape architects and scenographers.

The originality of his creations quickly contributed to the success of the studio, establishing it as a distinctive presence within the French craft landscape. Over the following nine years, more than 800 projects were studied, and over 200 were completed in France and internationally.

Today Jean-Baptiste Dubois has chosen to focus on what he is most passionate about : supporting creative projects in which the use of bamboo is meaningful and relevant, while sharing the knowledge and expertise he has acquired over the years. As a design studio, technical expert and educator, he offers his services to continue revealing and promoting the extraordinary potential of bamboo.
