Champions of Change: Empowering Bamboo for a better Future

Dedicated volunteers steer the World Bamboo Organization. The Ambassadors work independently but are connected as a team, and we collaborate to expand the potential of our actions and our mission.

Architecture and Urban Planning

M.Arch Tuan Manh Nguyen founded the architectural and urban design practice Kecho Collective in 2018 after spending nearly a decade working in the United States. He is currently involved in a range of projects focused on ecological design at various scales. Many of these projects incorporate bamboo, ranging from small townhouses to cultural and hospitality developments. Bamboo is utilized not only as a construction material but also as a conceptual element in landscape and urban design. One of the firm's key ongoing projects is the Thanh Tam Bamboo Ecopark in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, where Kecho Collective is supporting the client with master plan strategies, landscape design for the International Friendship Bamboo Garden, and architectural design for major structures such as the Lam Son Bamboo Campus and the Bamboo Museum.

Tuan earned his degree from Hanoi Architectural University and specialized in Urban Design with a focus on heritage and sustainable development, through a joint program between Hanoi Architectural University and Toulouse Architecture University in France. He also holds a master’s degree from the Center for Architectural Sciences and Ecology (CASE), a collaboration between Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York City. In addition to his practice, Tuan lectures at Hanoi University of Architecture, teaching in the Department of Advanced Architecture and the French Graduate Architectural Program (DEA).

As a World Bamboo Ambassador, Tuan is dedicated to promoting bamboo innovation both in Vietnam and internationally. He served as a member of the organizer and builder team at the World Bamboo Workshop in Vietnam in 2021."
